THE VILLAGE
One of the highlights of staying at Casa Elisabetta is the opportunity to experience the authentic Italian culture and slow-paced rhythm of life. Our apartments are located in Caposele, a picturesque small village immersed in the green heart of the Campania region (Southern Italy) and surrounded by idyllic mountain scenery, cultivated fields, and churches. Caposele, with the sweet chime of its tower bells and its friendly locals, exudes a genuine charm that will transport you back in time.
Caposele lies at the beginning of the Sele Valley and is part of the Picentini Mountains Regional Park. It is also known as the "ancient water kingdom" due to the karstic springs of the Sele River. These springs feed the Pugliese Aqueduct, the longest aqueduct in the world and one of the most extraordinary feats of hydraulic engineering ever constructed by hand.
Several unique churches reflect Caposele’s history and culture while also serving as symbols of spirituality deeply cherished by the locals. In particular, the Sanctuary and Basilica of San Gerardo are major places of worship that attract thousands of faithful visitors.
